Protein Stability & Formulation

Improving Efficacy and Mitigating Immunogenicity Risks

7 November 2024

The Protein Stability & Formulation conference confronts the challenges of ensuring stability and optimal delivery of increasingly complex biotherapeutics. We invite speakers to discuss excipient selection, address immunogenicity concerns, and share how they tailor their formulations to best suit their routes of administration. The conference will explore advancements in high throughput screening approaches, in-use stability assessment, and formulation strategies for novel modalities and delivery systems, with special focus on high concentration protein formulations and the use of AI and machine learning in formulation and stability predictions.

Coverage will include, but is not limited to:

  • Stability Assessment and Prediction
    • High throughput screening and predictive assays
    • Advanced biophysical characterisation to assess stability in different formulations—e.g., subcutaneous vs. IV route of administration
    • Characterising in-use stability
    • Predictive modelling for stability studies
    • Stability challenges with gene and cell therapies
  • High Concentration Protein Formulations
    • Increased risk of aggregation and viscosity at higher protein concentrations
    • Applying deep learning to predict high concentration antibody viscosity
    • Migitating potential immunogenicity risks with novel excipients and formulation strategies
    • Analytical approaches to characterise high concentration protein solutions
  • Formulation and Delivery Strategies for Genetic Medicines
    • Applying formulation and stability strategies from mAbs to viral vectors
    • Formulation development for different serotypes
    • Scalability and manufacturing challenges for complex formulations designed for gene therapy
    • Applying AI and machine learning in formulation design and decision-making
  • Co-formulations
    • Part of the lifecycle management of a drug - adding extra efficacies
    • Challenge of heterogeneous aggregates
    • Excipient compatibility for co-formulations
  • Excipients Selection and Optimisation
    • Excipients for challenging protein modalities
    • Assessing potential immunogenicity risks of certain excipients
    • Excipient selection for different routes of administration

The deadline for priority consideration is 29 March 2024.

All proposals are subject to review by session chairpersons and/or the Scientific Advisory Committee to ensure the overall quality of the conference program. Additionally, as per Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s policy, a select number of vendors and consultants who provide products and services will be offered opportunities for podium presentation slots based on a variety of Corporate Sponsorships.
